When a well-known craft brewery put out an RFP for a new East Coast location, Spillman Farmer Architects collaborated as a part of a larger development team to design the brewery and pub on the former site of Bethlehem Steel.

The design located the full-production brewery, packaging, distribution, and administrative support operations in the Iron Foundry building. At the time of its construction, the Iron Foundry was the largest manufacturing building in the world, producing the Fritz-patented “three-high rails.” In addition to the brewery, our concept also included designs for a bistro and gardens, where local and organic food is grown and served to visitors, and an open courtyard. This campus-like site is designed to be pedestrian friendly and allow for eventual growth and expansion of the brewing operations.

The site, proximal to major roadways, with upgraded and available utilities, cleared by the EPA and DEP for construction, zoned to allow for brewing, and in a location that has 30 million people within 100 miles, would be ideal for craft breweries to build and grow their East Coast brand.
