ESU engaged Spillman Farmer to complete a mini-master plan to correct inefficiencies and wayfinding, and create an identity and distinct user experience for Koehler Field House. The resulting visioning will be used by the University to gain consensus and solicit fundraising from alumni and donors.

Koehler Field House was originally built in 1964 at East Stroudsburg University. Over the last several years, it had been noted that the facility no longer served the contemporary needs of students, and that much of the building was being underutilized or used inefficiently.

ESU hired Spillman Farmer to complete a mini-master plan to correct inefficiencies and wayfinding, suggest improvements, and create an identity and distinct user experience. The resulting visioning will be used by the University to gain consensus and solicit fundraising from alumni and donors.

Some of the improvements suggested by SFA’s master plan include a new main entry and double-height lobby, some reorganization of the existing programming, and updates to the gym, locker rooms, office areas, and practice spaces. The plan also suggests a new outdoor plaza and drop-off area, a new press box, and several strategies to amplify the University’s brand throughout the athletic spaces
